Looking for something to do with the family this Youth Day public holiday? Look no further as Cape Town’s very own social circuses, Zip Zap, Actionarte and Sisonke come together to entertain the crowds at the Spier Shed (next to Stellenbosch Waldorf School off Annandale Road), Stellenbosch on Tuesday, 16 June 2015.
Youth Day serves as a reminder about the importance and valuable role young people play in shaping our country. To celebrate this annual commemorative day, three social circuses will collaborate in an exceptional performance at the Spier Shed on Youth Day, Tuesday 16 June 2015 at 15:00.
Families and friends both young and old can catch the talented young performers from Zip Zap, Actionarte and Sisonke in their second annual Social Circus event, which promises to be a feast for the eyes and inspiration for a future filled with hope.
Brent van Rensburg, Co-founder of Zip Zap elaborates, “Guests are in for a treat as we have 90 young performers from Stellenbosch, Khayelitsha and Hanover Park between the ages of eight and 17 taking part in the event. All three social circus schools only get together to perform once a year, so it’s not to be missed!”
Social Circus teaches life skills including self-confidence, honesty, trust, and respect; whilst encouraging inter-racial contact, communication, teamwork, and acceptance, utilising the medium of circus skill tuition. It is a tool for individual and community development, as well as social transformation.
Van Rensburg continues, “The Social Circus Network creates a platform for individuals and organisations to share ideas, exchange skills and develop programs to grow the reach of social circus intervention. It also allows the youth and passionate instructors from diverse backgrounds to bond with like-minded individuals who share their goals and passion.”
There is no charge to attend the event!
