The Auction is Zip Zap’s flagship fundraising event hosted annually.
In 2019 we raised R1,127,500 in one magnificent afternoon. The occasion is also so much more than fundraising. It’s an intimate experience where loyal Zip Zap activists gather and, through their collective philanthropic action, create change and a new world of opportunities for 2000 of Zip Zap’s beneficiaries.
Our Auction goes online for the first time ever
With the unforeseen disruption of the Covid 19 pandemic everything changed. All our live shows are cancelled and our beneficiary programmes remain suspended, negatively impacting both our work and our income streams. These circumstances have been a catalyst to launch an online component to our Auction for the first time ever. This also means we can extend this opportunity to support Zip Zap to a broader audience anywhere in the world. The online auction will commence on 1 February 2021 and precedes the live event.
Your invitation to the live event
Under the current lockdown level, we will still be able to host an intimate live event at the Cape Heritage Hotel in May 2021 (exact date is yet to be announced and in accordance with lockdown restrictions).
This special afternoon will be led by Victoria Engelhorn (Zip Zap Chairperson) as the auctioneer. Like-minded supporters and friends willth gather again to reconnect with the Zip Zap cause and bid on matchless creations and local and international experiences. This unique auction will be celebrated with live entertainment by award-winning singer/songwriter and humanitarian poet, Zolani Mahola.
Our two world-renowned mixologists, Tetsuo Hasegawa and Nana Shimosegawa, will join us all the way from New York to create their world-famous signature cocktails, paired with delectable snacks.
It’s an experience where guests leave with emptier pockets and fuller hearts. It’s an occasion that lifts spirits and celebrates the joy of life, the power of community and the rewards of contributing to life-changing human stories. Our friends leave knowing that they have made the world and our beloved South Africa a better place. All proceeds from this much-anticipated gathering are used to fund Zip Zap’s free youth and outreach programmes, inspiring and empowering kids for life.
