Brigette was born in South Africa, raised in Dubai and has been in Cape Town for the last 6 years after completing her studies in Australia. She completed her Bachelor of Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts at the University of Melbourne followed by a move to Cape Town in March 2012. Since establishing her career in 2010, she has actively worked in a variety of events including the Dubai Rugby 7s and the Falls Music Festival in Australia, and has spent the last 6 years working with various theatre groups while employed at the Artscape Theatre Centre as a Project Manager. Brigette joined the Zip Zap family in July 2018 and considers herself to be a hard working, focused and determined bundle of energy and aims to inspire, and be inspired by the values and visions of the Zip Zap Circus.

I am Zimkhitha Lamani I work as a personal assistant for the events manager at Zip Zap Circus School. I graduated from the Cape Peninsula University OF Technology with Diploma in Public Relations Management in 2017. I’ve started working at Zip Zap as an intern in Fundraising department.

Tania Majavie was born and bred in Cape Town. She completed her studies at the Tertiary School in Business Administration (TSiBA) Education in Pinelands where she obtained a B.Admin in Entrepreneurial Leadership. Tania then started her work journey as a Student Recruitment Officer, however had a craving to work in sustainability and fundraising particularly in the NGO sector as she believed it was her way of making a difference. She then moved onto doing work as an Individual Giving Coordinator where she worked specifically on raising funds through alumni. During this period Tania had also completed a fundraising course at The Fundraising Academy (TFA) based in Cape Town. Tania then moved on and became a Fundraising Officer in 2013 where a core component of her work had been on building and maintaining relationships with donors as well as raising funds; other aspects covered grant management and general fundraising specifically for projects involved with social development and upliftment. Tania joined the Zip Zap Circus School in July of 2014 with the aim of continuing to fuel her craving of making a difference in the lives of others.

Anja developed an interest in social justice and improving the lives of others at a young age. As a teenager she became a member of her school’s interact club and participated in various volunteer opportunities. After completing a Bachelors Degree at the University of Cape Town she went on to graduate with an Honours Degree in Gender Studies and Social Transformation focusing her academic research on rural women’s health concerns and access to healthcare. Her interests in improving the well-being of others lead her to complete an additional Honours degree in Psychology at Rhodes University in the Eastern Cape, with a focus on cognitive rehabilitation in children living with HIV/AIDS. After returning to Cape Town she worked at a non-profit organisation, and obtained her Masters in Programme Evaluation and Monitoring at UCT, where she focused her research on youth development and leadership. While studying towards her Masters Degree Anja completed an internship with a local social impact consulting company and was then employed as a Researcher for the firm, working on projects in education, gender advocacy, HIV/AIDS, youth at risk and youth development. Anja considers herself to be a hard-working individual and believes that small changes can make big impacts. She is looking forward to applying her experience and knowledge of social research methods to monitor, evaluate and learn, together with the team, to contribute to the organisation’s vision.

Maalikah Jacobs

Born in Cape Town, Maalikah is a mother of two crazy boys, wife to an amazing husband and on a mission to make a difference in the world. After completing her studies at City Varsity in 2004, she has worked on projects for various organisations. With graphic design as a foundation, Maalikah has expanded her skill-set over the years, by completing various short courses; PR Writing & Media Crisis Management at CPUT and Photography. She believes in life-long learning and regularly takes part in online courses. In 2016 she started working at The Sunflower Fund and completely re-branded the organisation’s image and annual campaign. This is where she found her passion for doing work that makes a difference in people’s lives. Maalikah joined the Zip Zap team in May 2018. She has been inspired by Zip Zap’s commitment to inspire kids for life. Maalikah is passionate about her work and loves what she does. She is loyal, dedicated and always ready for a challenge.

I have been part of Zip Zap since 1999 were I came to join the circus not even knowing much about the circus. When I went on my first tour with Zip Zap to Pretoria in 2001 didn’t take much for me to reach an international tour to Germany in 2002 then every life opportunity it was like a dream come true. And I started traveling with Zip Zap nationally and internationally, as I wanted to be a soccer player to travel the world but My dream was happening in the circus ring. I got an N6 diploma in electrical engineering were I did my studies at College of Cape Town and I was alternating Zip Zap and my studies. But my life and happiness is in the performing arts. In 2013 got employed by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport to start a juggling program for the after school program which is called MOD Program which is in about 181 schools across the Western Cape and I worked there for 4 years. 2013 I was the semifinalist of SA's got talent doing juggling. Came back to Zip Zap 2017 as an Outreach Program Coordinator.

My name is Angelo Hannival, I am 31 years of age born 02/05/1986, I was born and bread in Cape Town and grew up on the the Cape Flats. I am married to Nicole Hannival and we have a beautiful 2 year old daughter name Leah Rose Hannival. I love soccer and any free time I have I am either on the soccer field playing soccer or I am watching soccer and by the way its my wifes pet hate (she hates the fact that I play soccer but she reckons she loves me still lol) Loving sports so much I always wanted to work in the sporting sector and that’s when I decided to study Sports Management where I completed my Diploma at Exercise Teachers Academy. I am currently the Youth Programme Co Ordinator at Zip Zap and I started at Zip Zap 01 July 2017. I left the corporate life after 11 years of working for Virgin Active because my desire and passion was always to work with kids and youth and at Zip Zap that’s exactly what I am doing and its great, I love it.

Lizo James was born in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, in 1985. He was a very agile child when he joined Zip Zap at the age of 11 and performed in his first international tour in 1996 in Denmark. Since then, he has been sharing his knowledge and training in various circus skills. In 2009 he taught social circus in Australia to Aboriginal kids. Since 2011 he focuses on Zip Zap two outreach projects in Khayelitsha using the circus arts to uplift and empower children living with HIV and receiving ARV treatment. He has also facilitated the “training of trainers” in Durban in 2008 and 2013. Coming from a community with socio-economic challenges himself, social circus has been his way of giving hope and joy around him. Lizo is also a professional performer' and add the year after 'Cirque Phenix in France in 2013. Since 2015 he has been collaborating with contemporary companies in Reunion Island and France and has travelled extensively. When he returns to South Africa he loves sharing his experience and knowledge with the young ones at Zip Zap. “In future, I see myself going around the world teaching in circus schools and performing. I am a good person with a positive mind and I love what I am doing.”

I was born on 2 December 1979 in the Eastern Cape and completed all my schooling and studies there. I arrived in the Western Cape in 2000 and started to work at a construction company. In 2003 I worked with different sub-contractors as a shutter hand. In 2004 I went back to the Eastern Cape to drive my own car as a taxi then early 2005 I came back to the Western Cape where I did a security guard course. Once I was done with that I started to work as a security officer. In 2005 I worked for a security solutions company until I got a job here at the Zip Zap Circus School. I love the work I do now.

Jason joined Zip Zap at the age of 8 and became a very good trampolinist and juggler by the age of 12. Unfortunately he had to move to England as a teenager where life did not go so well and returned to Cape Town and zip zap at the age of 19 where over the past 3 years he picked up where left off and is now one of South Africa’s premiere jugglers performing the only gravity juggling act in the country.

My Name is Masixole Mbambatho also known as Masi, I’m 26 years old, I started at Zip Zap in 2006 at the Ibhongolwethu project when I was 14 years old and performed in the World Aids Day (WAD) show. I then moved to Simunye in 2009 and that’s when Zip Zap became my family. I moved into the Zip Zap residence (OBS House) and all I wanted to do was be in the circus, but my mum pushed me to finish Matric, In 2011 I passed Matric and the following year I started the Dare2Dream Programme. I travelled the world and began teaching. I learnt how to rigg, perform and drive. In 2016 I was promoted as a staff member and now co-ordinate two projects that runs every Tuesday - Second Chance and ECD. I am proud to have also put together the WAD show. I’m happy and I love it because I’VE BEEN ZAPPED
