Annual Auction & Cocktail Party 2021

Considering the current lockdown level 3, we still hope to host an intimate live event, limited to 50 guests only at the Cape Heritage hotel on Sunday, 7th March 2021. This special afternoon will be led by Victoria Engelhorn (Zip Zap Chairperson) as the auctioneer. Like-minded supporters and friends with gather again to re-connect with the Zip Zap cause and bid on matchless creations and local and international experiences. This unique auction will be celebrated with live entertainment by award-winning singer / songwriter and humanitarian poet, Zolani Mahola. Our two world-renowned mixologists; Tetsuo Hasegawa and Nana Shimosegawa will join us all the way from New York to create their world-famous signature cocktails, paired with delectable snacks. It’s an experience where guests leave with emptier pockets, and fuller hearts. It’s an occasion that lifts spirits and celebrates the joy of life, the power of community and the rewards of contributing to life-changing human stories. Our friends leave knowing that they have made the world and our beloved South Africa, a better place. All proceeds from this much-anticipated gathering are utilised to fund Zip Zap’s youth and outreach programmes inspiring and equipping kids for life. All our programmes are hosted free of charge for all students. If you would like to receive an invitation to this live event at a cost of R1500 per person, please contact us.
Our experiences can take you to Spain for a stay at the 1274 Medieval Estate - Brugarol - or if you are more of a thrill-seeker you can bid on an entry ticket into the sought-after Bernina Grand Tourismo hill climb. Drive a beautifully restored SEAT car and enjoy 3-nights’ accommodation at Lej da Staz in Switzerland with your wingman/lady!
We have some bucket-list items closer to home like a custom-designed outfit from Kat van Duinen, a mixed media art piece from Ruth Greaves or a personalised tour with Dylan Lewis of his world-famous sculpture garden.
And then there are the priceless items like a signed tennis racket from Rafael Nadal, the very one he played with at the recent Match in Africa #6.

Some background:

The Auction is Zip Zap’s flagship fundraising event hosted annually. Last year we raised in ZAR1,127,500 in one magnificent afternoon. The occasion is also so much more than fundraising. It’s an intimate experience where loyal Zip Zap activists gather and through their collective philanthropic action, create change and a new world of opportunities for 2000 of Zip Zap’s beneficiaries. With the unforeseen disruption of the Covid 19 pandemic everything changed. All our live shows and beneficiary programmes were suspended for 7 months, negatively impacting on both our work and our income streams. The circumstances have been a catalyst for ‘out of the box’ thinking prompting up to launch an online component to our Auction for the first time ever. This also means we can extend this opportunity to support Zip Zap to a broader audience anywhere in the world.
